This is going to be my first official foodie sale. Give me some support!! I didn't bake the cookies, but I tried them all. They are baked by Fir's mum. I tell you, she is such a great cook and hardworking baker. It's not easy to bake so many bottles of 'kuehs' all by herself. She does not sell it in public, only to her own friends and friends' friends.

Kueh Bangkit without/with white sesame

Cashew nuts cookies

Sugee Cookies

Corn flakes

I have always been a faithful fan to her sugee cookies, it's the best I ever tried. Compared to some other places, hers is not as flaky, as fragile like it collaspes the moment you hold it up, the sugee is still firm and crispy every bite I take. And, she made the cornflakes with honey specially for me. It was wonderfully made. It's so addictive, I simply adore it. Her most well-known kueh is her kueh bangkit, it's a best try too.

Even though deepavali and hari raya is over, you can still order it. She will gladly made it for people who likes her kueh.

-----------------------------------

FOOD SALE 1

Kueh Bangkit w/wo sesame : $16
Sugee Cookies : $18
Cashew nuts Cookies : $24
Cornflakes : p.o.a (around $18)

Each bottle contains around 60 - 90 pieces

Email me: jes.home@gmail.com

------------------------------------

Germany's snackss reaching SG

Mama mia.. I had a nice home cooked lontong lunch prepared by Fir's mum, accompanied with big fresh juicy fried prawns as side dish, which has been my favourite for Hari Raya. Other than this nice simple lunch, I had many different types of "kuehs" surrounded by the dining table. Isn't this a perfect day to feed myself a little fatter?

*lontong is a malay dish which includes vegetable curry with rolled rice (also called Nasi Impit), and topped with sambal & toasted coconut.

Nevertheless, my lunch didn't just end that way. Beside the kuehs and lunch, Fir's family overwhelmed me with foodies from Germany. His sister just came back from Germany, and she brought back foodies from there which of course, includes chocolate. Wooah, hear it, chocolates I love it. His family is so friendly and welcome their guest, ain't I lucky!! hehe. So many foodies waiting for me...

Nuts..nuts!! Because I don't really get to see the same things in Singapore, which means I don't even know how it taste. So I tried a few from the above pictures, not all though, but it's good enough. And indeed, they taste great. By the way, readers, I do remember seeing Hanuta selling in Candy Empire. The rest, I am not too sure. Try your luck.

I would say, Fir's camera skills seems to be better than mine. *hmpf..I must work harder to achieve better pictures.*

Julius Truffles

I finally found the time to share my readers with this guy, Julius, who made his own chocolate. But before that, allow me to share a short story on how I got in touch with his chocolate.

Just about a month ago, my friend, M darlx, she was going to leave singapore for a long term. As she had stayed in Singapore throughout her growing up, I thought probably she had tried almost everything in Singapore or maybe know even more things than I do. My first thought was, "ah...she probably hasn't get a chance to sit on cable car before, why not we organise a day to go for a cable car ride." But time is quite rush, as she had a lot of catching up to do with her friends as well.

Suddenly, I think of giving her something very special which is made in Singapore. And Julius had sent me a link to his julius truffles blog previously. And I had visited it before, thus his blog came into my mind as a gift. Personally, i mentioned before that I love homemade foodies, and that's how I am being attracted into getting Julius truffles for M darlx. It was pretty rush as well, I email him and gave him only a day or two in advance to make the chocolates only. I got to say, he's a very patient and friendly 'businessman'.

Did you see the story behind all these chocolates? Read this. Can you feel how smooth the chocolate melts in your mouth, by looking at the pics? I would say, he's a very innovative young entrepreneur. The chocolates is so exquiste, because they are hand-made. Definitely, compared it with Godiva or Sins, he may not be outstanding. But come to think of it, he made it personally each and every pieces. Ain't they just so unique?

As I can't take alcoholic foodies, his best well-know is the volcano (contains congac), too bad I can't try it. However, I got it for my friend. Apart from that, I got peppermint, orange and classic rum for M darlx. Of course, beside getting for M darlx, I got some (non-alcoholic) for Fir too. And I requested Julius to wrap it separately, he gladly did that. Thanks Julius! I tried the peppermint and orange, it tasted heavenly. The moment I tried one, I feel like having another piece, it just melts fast in my mouth. It tasted so soft, so smooth and the chocolate is soooooo rich. It's really worthwhile, and I will say, I can feel his effort in making it. They are very special and is a great gift because I know M darlx loves it too. Try it and you'll know.

---------------------------

Julius Truffles
www.juliustruffles.blogspot.com

--------------------------

Jack's Place

Oh man, I can't believe I am blogging about the ultimate steak house. Did I mention before that I never have a liking for 'beef' ? Yes, you didn't see wrongly, I really never have a special feeling towards beef, let alone steak. However, this blog will be about Jack's Place (mainly steak) which has been around in Singapore for over 30 years. I have heard many not-so-good ratings about it, but personally I had never try it before in the past. Maybe different outlets varies, and each has their own liking.

Before our movie showtime, Fir and me walking around at Great World City, he suddenly mentioned to dine at Jack's Place after our movie. Naturally, we went in straight after the movie and sat down comfortably. It feels great with fairly few people in the restaurant. We both prefer eating 'peacefully', enjoying the quietness in the restaurant and friendly staff.

As the daily promotion is to add $5 to the main course you order, you can have your choice of soup, the day's dessert & coffee/tea. It's so worthwhile right, thus, we definitely choose to upgrade our main courses.

Lobster bisque, small chunks of lobster meat

Creme of mushroom

Sirloin steak & catfish combo

NZ Sirloin steak

The soups come with garlic breads, and though they are not world-class, to me, paying the price is worth it. I had the steak & catfish combo which was so fulfiling and satisfying, while Fir had his original NZ Sirloin steak. We both asked to cook it medium. Woosh..I could even see the juice flowing out from the steak when I cut it nicely. I really love the steak with a tinge of pinkish, and the catfish is so fresh and tender. The generous servings of carrots and long beans simply caught my attention, and I finished it before I was done with the steak. I got to compliment on the baked potato, I always find that baked potato, bacons and mayonnaise are a happy family, and I really adore this. We wrapped it up with desserts -- ice cream. The dinner was definitely a satisfactory one and made me start to love steak slowly. yumyum... and the worst is right now, I am craving for steak!!!

-------------------------

Jack's Place

1 Kim Seng Promenade
#03-19
Great World City

Tel: 6738-5868

Rating: 7 /10

------------------------

Gathering at Island Cafe

Hey readers, I'm back to update my foodie journey. I got to admit this entry should be updated long time ago. Thanks for your patience and here I go.

A few weeks ago, I met up with some poly friends for a small gathering and Fir suggested to have our dinner at Island Cafe. *Smiling*, I have always wanted to go to this tropical cafe which is located at the heart of Singapore -- Orchard (Tangs departmental store).

As usual, there's always someone to be late, so before everyone arrived, we found ourselves nice comfort sofa to sit and wait. It is Mariott Hotel which is just beside Tangs. There are sofa located at the lobby and snacks, beverages and even freshly-baked pastries & cakes for their guests. Some beautifully made cakes sitting inside the display glass caught my attention, and I knew i got to pick up some and try.

refreshing cheesecake, top with strawberry & raspberry

very rich chocolate, makes every bite worthwhile

I don't quite remember the names for them. But, I believe each and every piece is so exquiste and beautifully made that you won't miss out them. I simply dig into these cakes, they are delicious and hard to resist. Adding on, the prices ranges from $5 - $8 per piece. Isn't that cheap? Sitting in these elegant sofa, savouring this pretty cakes, taking pictures with friends, it makes waiting time enjoyable indeed.

--------------------------

Marriott Hotel Singapore
320 Orchard Road

Singapore 238865

Tel: +65 6735-5800

Rating : 8/10

--------------------------

Definitely, I got to compliment about the ambience and service that Island cafe provides. The friendly staff joined the tables together very efficiently to accomodate our big group, and thus, we settled down pretty fast. It's a lovely spot I wouldn't miss whenever I go up to the top level of Tangs, just beside the Children's section.

What attracts me most is the interior design of the cafe, dark wood tables with candles lit on each table creating a dim yet beautiful and romantic touch. Every tables and chairs just seems to fit perfectly in this cafe. A bonus has to be the quiet "al fresco" dining area which I assume will be perfect for shoppers to catch up with friends in a sunny afternoon, it's just seems a good relaxing place after retail therapy.

Rojak, with generous serving of ' you tiao' (fried dough)

a very asian dish, chicken wings & satay & samosa with sambal chilli

Crayfish, & fresh thick sliced fish with Hor-fun styled gravy

Indonesian fried rice

Hainanese pork chop rice

Black pepper crab tung hoon

As you can see, all the dishes we ordered are quite asian-style. Personally, I wouldn't give a thumbs up to the food, maybe not to my liking. The snacks like rojak seems to have too much sauce in it which makes it taste a little salty, and the asian mix platter is too common and easy to find. For myself, I had crayfish with the hor-fun styled gravy. It's pretty good because the sliced fish and crayfish is fresh, just that the gravy seems a little too much. Another dish I've tried is black pepper crab tung hoon, which tasted not bad either. The soft shell crab is quite tasty though. And, black pepper crab tung hoon is voted one of the favourites in Island Cafe. For the fried rice & pork chop rice, I didn't try it, but the tomato sauce on the porkchop seems a tad too much, & it doesn't look appealing.

If you are looking for a cafe which provides nice ambience, where you can find serenity after a long shopping trip in town to catch up a little with friends, go for Island Cafe. The friendly staff and wondeful interior will definitely gives you a pleasant chilling with friends. Go for light food like their famous crab bisque and brownie. I have heard praises about the brownie, but too bad, I was too full to fill a brownie into the stomach.

-----------------------

Island Cafe
Level 4, Tangs Shopping Centre
Orchard Road

Tel: 6737 5500

Rating: 6.5/10

-----------------------

it's TCC cafe again!

Yes, I love to go cafes, almost any cafe there is in Singapore. Be it with your friends, colleagues, boyfriend/girlfriend, don't you think people just love to chill out. In this hectic lifestyle, chillin' out is one of the most relaxing way of letting our hair down and enjoy the time left for that day.

Just about a month ago, I did talk about The Coffee Connoisseur (TCC). However, it was about comparing their drinks. So, this time round, I made a trip down to TCC cafe again with Fir to try their food. Not that I'd never try it before, just that I always order the same food from the long list of menu given..you will know my favourite dish in a minute. hehe! We went to the outlet in Millenia Walk, and I really like the tranquil feel it gives. I am those who appreciates serenity and peaceful. I prefer going during weekdays and non-peak hours where it's free from crowds and queueing. Okay, enough words. Time for pictures to do its job.

That's the Summer Fresh Salad with garlic bread.

Teriyaki Sabayon Salmon.

my all-time favourite: Macoroni Cheese with chicken bits

See those sticky chewy cheese..perfect match with macoroni!

Oh, the salad is the right choice to start off the lunch. And I simply adore the crisp greenies and favourite croutons. The salmon that Fir ordered tasted just great; I never had a liking for cooked salmon, simply because not everyone does it good. Not true, TCC had done it at least to my liking. And the salmon is grilled, surrounds with veggies which makes it a healthy choice. I love my favourite macaroni cheese most! Though it's a little oily, I just like those generous chewy chesse on top, covering the true ingredients below. When you "slit" it open, the fragrance of the macaroni, chicken and cheese just emerged out instantly. I highly recommend it and it's a must-try if you want to grab a bite at TCC. Yummy!!!

----------------------------------

The Coffee Connoisseur cafe

Raffles Boulevard
Millenia Walk #01-44/45
S( 039596)

Tel: 6837 3265

Opening hours: daily, 8am to 11pm

----------------------------------

Mango Pudding

Out of sudden, I was reading some entries from one of my favourite food blogs in the office a few days ago. A page I saw caught my attention, just because I didn't have an oven, desserts that doesn't require oven always interest me. haha! I love and enjoy desserts, totally. I decided to try on this mango pudding recipe that I came upon from baking mum straight away.

On my first attempt, though it still tasted good, it wasn't a success. Because it became watery on the 2nd day. Aiyo! And blurr me, I am making pudding, but I cut it to make it look like agar-agar. haha! However, I made a little amendments on my 2nd attempt and it turned out to be a Success. Let's enjoy the pictures.

Isn't the mango beautiful and fleshy?

*first attempt* if you notice, it appears to turn watery on the plate.

*second attempt* slurps..see the big chucks of mango

Pour remaining into small bowls, & top it with own-made mango puree

Replace evaporate milk with vanilla ice-cream

Instead of the traditional mango pudding where they pour evaporated milk on top, I decided to give it a western feel and scoop vanilla ice-cream with mango puree as the toppings. Hoooo, this dessert really makes a perfect end to the dinner. I simply love it, sweet, refreshing and easy-to-make. MAMA Mia....

---------------------------------
Mango juice & puree

1 big fleshy mango
150ml Marigold PeelFresh Mango juice (optional)

1. Cut the mango flesh into cubes into a big bowl
2. Smash it until it looks like puree, using a fork
3. Use a sieve, pour (2) and then using a fork to squeeze the juice out onto a bowl.

The self-made juice mix with the Peelfresh mango juice will make it a very rich mango juice which u can use it in the making of pudding.
While the puree, you can top it on the mango pudding. Isn't that a good idea without wasting any leftovers? It's really easy to make.
----------------------------------

Weird, or funny foodies?

Alright, i know food-blog should write more about good and delicious to my readers. But but...this is interesting. Let me show you some very weird or funny 'foodies'. Or should I say exotic? Hm, i will say it's a mixture of all. Edible and inedible, weird and exotic foodies! Hahaha. Just have a little laugh though and forget about it. I repeat, not advisable to try or eat, but if you insist, I won't stop.

Here I go, show you this pretty interesting chocolate my ex-colleague bought from Korea. And it didn't taste too bad either, just a little spicy stinging taste at the tongue after the chocolate melts.

so you see, red pepper taste!

Another 'foodie' on its way..all the way from Australia brought back by a friend. And something you won't find it just-anywhere in Singapore. A little gross if you are not an adventure-eater. So far, I just found it in one shop which sells such a thing. If you dare to try it, tell me how it taste! hehe.

Larvets, worms?! Few weeks ago, I went to Raffles City with my best girlfriend, because I wanted to try this stall at the basement which I heard quite a number of thumbs-up for their food.

Usually, when we talked about 'Baguette', the first thing you might think of is the bread which origins from France. Thus, you might link the shop named 'Baguette' with French cuisine. But this time, you gonna be guessing it wrong.

Yes, definitely one of the popular food in the shop is sandwich with baguette. However, I didn't choose any of them. In fact, their food is more of Vietnamese style than French (except for the baguettes). I find the owner is rather creative in coming up different foodies to sell in the market, you shall see what I meant. Let's take a look at some of the foodies I tried in this shop named 'Baguette'.

Sushi bread (with cheese, ham and tuna), doesn't it look like sushi roll?

Bun Ga Nuong (chicken version)

Lime Soda Chanh

Cheesecake

Lemongrass Mousse Cake

Sushi bread which is my favourite above all, firstly it is cheap at the cost of $2.90 and secondly, the bread is so soft. I love just the combination of the oh-so-soft sushi bread with chicken ham and cheese. Mama Mia~ Bun Ga Nuong ($5.20 each) is the grilled chicken marinated with their special sauce, savour with rice noodle from Viet; The chicken pieces are big, tender, juicy and just nice. And it is accompany with special sour chilli sauce mixing it all up to boost the taste.

They have a set meal which is Bun Ga Nuong with a drink cost $6.90. So naturally, I took that. As for the drink, I chose Lime Soda Chanh which is really refreshing and give you a 'wow' feeling that makes you want to sip more. To complete a whole meal, desserts are a Must!!haha. I chose cheesecake, though it's not exactly very nice, not too bad either. And lemongrass mousse cake which is specially made by the shop, is superb lemongrass taste. If you don't really fancy lemongrass taste, I suggest you drop that.

Overall, I give a 2.7/5 for this place. If you passed by Raffles City basement, don't mind trying it. =)

-----------------------------------------
Baguette - The Viet-Inspired Deli

B1-55 Raffles City Shopping Centre
Singapore 179103
Tel No.: 6336-0057

Opening hours: 10am to 10pm daily
-----------------------------------------

Another place I passed by at the basement, very american style.

Yep, you didn't see wrongly, it's the Chippy - British Take Away. It has been at the tip of Singaporeans' mouth, food has its trend too. In the past, it was Bubble tea. Now, it is Chippy! Their specialities are Beer battered fish, Fried mars bar, Cheesy curry chicken and Original cheese sausage. Just by looking at the names, you probably drooling. I had a full dinner at Baguette, so I tried only Fried mars bar. It has 4 really small pieces with Chocolate/Vanilla/Strawberry ice cream. And it actually tastes a little like goreng pisang (fried banana), very sweet but not much to my liking. If you are like me, like trying different food around, try it and you will know what I meant by goreng pisang. But I did see a big crowd queueing up for beer battered fish and cheesy curry chicken (big portion and very spicy I heard), try those instead I suggest.

-------------------------------------
Chippy - British Take Away

#B1-58 Raffles City Shopping Centre
Singapore 172103
-------------------------------------

My supper

Upon reaching home, I was feeling a little hungry. I went to ransack my fridge to look for any edible stuff. I saw some leftover banana cake. Haha, yes.. it's homemade banana cake again, but this time is different, it's made by Fir's mum.
p.s.: If you would like to try, it's sellable, you can email me or tag me at the tagboard.

Alright, it looks like this before I had cut it into small pieces. And it tastes good either warm or cold, but mine is after putting in the fridge. Mmmmmm! Okay, this is only the first part of my supper. Because the cake slice is not as big as what u saw above, it is in fact a small piece. So, I tried my luck in searching again.

Marigold non-fat yoghurt (Aloe Vera)

Dorset Muesli

I don't usually eat yoghurt as I dislike milk products. However, I thought it's time to take in more 'calcium' and so, I bought it from a minimart nearby. If you notice, it has a healthier choice logo, so on top of aloe vera, make it a bonus that I should buy. Quite yummy anyway, a refreshing taste with low calories (135kcal) & high calcium (290mg). Fir once told me, muesli mix in yoghurt is delicious. So, I gave it a shot. Woo hoo..I love the museli & yoghurt. You will love it if you want a healthy and fulfiling breakfast.

Saw this chipsmore been lying there some time, I picked it up and see, Oh butter crunch...it's a new flavour! I expected a buttery taste, it didn't disappoint me thou. The presentation looks like marble cake in cookie form. I needed some sweet fix, so I tried it, and thought...it tastes a bit of coffee and butterscotch. I am quite a junkie, pop one after another, 5 in total. Overall, it's not too bad if you want some cheap & nice cookies, try it.

To end my supper before heading to bed, I drank oatmilk by Magnolia, tastes like Hocklick. But I am not a milk-lover, so to me, taste not bad and not good as well. If you are like me, who dislike milk product, I encourage : try drinking the oatmilk.

End of my long supper. Anyway, patronised TCC cafe a few days ago, as well as Coffee Club. Alright, guess most of the people might have went to these two cafes before which are slightly " more expensive" than Starbucks.

The Coffee Connoisseur (TCC) cafe
from left to right: Ice minty mocha,Ice mocha villa,Azuki freeze,Oreo milkshake,Ice mon cherie,Apple soda,Lavender tea & strawberry shortcake

Ya..lots of drinks yea...! Personally, I am in love with Azuki freeze which is a red beans drink. I simply love red beans, lots of them. It's cooling and great, not as sweet as you think. But I've sweet-tooth afterall, so up to u to decide. Regardless of sweet-tooth, I, too, love the lavender tea with strawberry shortcake. It made up a great afternoon tea. Among all these, other drinks I like is the Ice minty mocha and Ice mon cherie. Try that the next time u patronise them, alright. If you are looking for food or snacks, try their casear salad, macoroni with chicken top with melted cheese (I don't quite remember the name.) & shrooms bite. YUMMY!! On top of everything, the ambience is pretty during non-peak hours like Monday-Thurday whereby it is not too crowded. Great chilling place..check it out.

------------------------------------
TCC cafe
51 Circular Road S(049406)
Phone : 6533 9033

Sunday to Thursday, & public holiday : 11am - 12am
Friday, Saturday & Eve of public holiday: 11am - 2am
------------------------------------

Coffee Club
from left to right : Ice mocha top with vanilla ice cream, Ice passion tea top with ice cream, muddy mudpie

I like the muddy mudpie, especially the base made of oreo cookies. In fact, the whole thing is made up of chocolate & coffee ice cream. But it's so satisfying that made me lick the spoon upon finishing. I like the ice passion tea as well, however, compared to TCC, my verdict turns out that TCC has a better ranges of drinks. Coffee club does better in their desserts and food range. There is an outlet opposite Cineleisure which opens 24hours, so if you are looking for long chilling out with friends, try that outlet though. However, if you are like me, who prefer a quieter place which is less-crowded, give HarbourFront Centre outlet a try.

----------------------------------
HarbourFront Centre
1 Maritime Square
Singapore 099253
Level 1, just opposite Harry's bar
----------------------------------

So, pick your choice! =)

Pitstop Cafe

Alright, before giving a credit to Pitstop Cafe, I want to say about this dessert shop, my girlies introduced me to.

Hawaiian Papaya boiled with fresh milk

Mango Sago

Two girlies waiting for me, one had the Hawaiian Papaya boiled with fresh milk while waiting for me to arrive, appreciated that, babe. She had that for $2.50, and it's her second bowl of desserts. Guess you can see that the desserts from Ah Chew dessert shop are quite nice & popular. While I had my Mango Sago which cost $3.50, but it's pretty cooling & refreshing. However, I find the prices is a little steep, ranges from $1.80 to $8.00. If you craved for desserts that are more traditional & want to make sure the quality is good, try the desserts here though.

------------------------------------------
Ah Chew Desserts
1 Liang Seah Street, #01-11 (Bugis)
Liang Seah Place
Singapore 189022

Tel: 6339 8198

Closed on mondays.
--------------------------------------------

Okay, here comes about Pitstop Cafe which is like a boardgames cafe, allows friends to have fun & chill out. The whole group of us went straight to the place after my bf suggested it, so I was rather excited as I went up to the place before, but never really sit down. They had this package which is $12.90 comes with a main course, soup & drink , & 2hrs of gaming. We took that definitely, it's a cool deal isn't it? They had pretty good service I would say. They treat u more like friends than customaers. Why do i say so?!

Ok, you see, my group of friends are rather big & we didn't make reservation, so they tried to move here and there just to make some space for us. Still, we became two seperate groups. Thus we had our lunch first, then we requested to combine the tables, they gladly moved it for us again. When playing the games, they explained the instructions to us, assuring we played it correctly to get the thrill of it. Don't you think they indeed provide a good service? Just that it was a little overcrowded today. Let's take a look at the pictures :

Soup of the day, some vergetables soup i guessFish & chips, forgotten the name for it, but looks & taste good anyway!

Lamb chop, is not too bad either.

Cattle cut

Sotong balls

Samosa, with curry potatoes wrapped inside

Overall, I don't give really a thumbs up to the food (haha, maybe because I chose the oh-not-so-good cattle cut), it's the boardgames and fun that makes up for that I guess. Still, I think the place is quite cool and nice, considering the fact they are still young entrepreneurs & I admire their determination for that. A good chill-out place for friends to have fun & gather.

The fish and chips is not too bad, crispy and fresh. While the cattle cut is really tough in meat and is slightly cold, I totally give up on that. I love the chips and greenies though. And on top of that, I had free ice-cream because I signed up this Lifestyle card for free. For more informaton, click on the word-link. We ordered some finger food too, like samosa, sotong balls and prawn fritters. The prawn fritters had been gobbled up before I managed to take a picture. I think finger-food are quite nice to bite on while playing games. :)

& I noticed this cute couple hugging in the cafe, Mr.Salt & Mrs. Pepper. hehe!

As you can see, we had tried these three games : Jenga, Scattergories, Imaginiff . I like the 3rd game best, because we changed the rule abit. hehe, cheeky! If you love to play challenging and exciting boardgames, head down to Pitstop Cafe now and play with your friends. You can even take a group picture with your friends, and decorate it on the wall. To buy the photo from them, you just have to pay $1 to get them develop for you instantly.

Artist manika still in process of decorating....T15 rocks.

Though we went to TCC, but I guess that is way too common. So I guess that's about all the information. There is more towards the end of the day, chilling out at TCC ; I may post it when I am free again. Pretty exhausted after a long day. Goodnight friends, and readers.

-----------------------------------------------

Pitstop Cafe
14B Circular Road (2nd level of the shophouse)

Tel: 65355383 (Reservations if big group)

Monday-Thursday : 5pm - 11pm
Friday-Saturday, eve of PH & PH day : 12pm - 11pm
Sunday : 12pm - 9pm

------------------------------------------------

Bread-base Hawaiian Pizza

Today is such a lucky day, my colleague treats all of us with Swensen's Ice cream cone. You may think what's the big deal of treating an ice-cream cone. Indeed it is, she ordered 40 over ice-cream cones for us. An ice-cream cone is cheap, but 40+ ice-cream cones from Swensen is no joke. So, isn't it my lucky day being an ice-cream lover too?
Swensen's vanilla ice-cream cone

see, the vanilla is so rich!

I love the combination of the chocolate & almonds, it is so lovely. And WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get), the ice-cream scoop is really big in portion. So naturally, it became my lunch. You can get these lovely cones from Swensen's outlets all over Singapore island.

Next, is my very own creation with no recipe. Who says without oven, there is no way to make a pizza on your own!! haha. I always love to make simple foodies. As I was getting a little hungry after work & walking home, on my way, I decided that I wanna make a mini pan pizza for supper. Thus, bought pineapple on the way home. Before that, something I'd like to declare; I have no oven at home, you might be surprised with the ingredients I used. here it goes :

Smoked turkey breast ham, green pepper & pineapple

Bread-base with parmesan cheese shreds

Use extra bread to cover up the 'holes' & spread tomato, cheese and black pepper

After all the ingredients are added, top with loads of cheese. Wooo....

I know the pictures are really bad, or maybe the pizza itself is not gd at all. Seriously using bread is a bad idea, but I guess without oven, it's just seems impossible doing a pizza-base with my toaster.=( But I am happy with this though, presentation is quite bad, but taste is not too bad except for the base.
---------------------------------------------
Ingredients :
2 Smoked turkey breast ham (cut into pieces)
1/4 Green pepper (cut into pieces)
1/4 Pineapple (cut into pieces)
3 slices Gardenia white bread (tore into pieces)
1 tsp black pepper
1 tsp parsley flakes
1 tbs unsalted butter
2 tbs tomato sauce
1 packet Perfect Italiano Parmesan Shredded Cheese

1. Coat the bread with butter and combine them together to form a circle, pour some cheese on top and spread evenly, take to toaster & bake for 2-4mins.
2. Retrieve & spread tomato sauce on top evenly, put a little black pepper to flavour, & pour cheese again. Send into the toaster for 4mins.
3. Place the ham, green pepper, & pineapple on top. Pour loads of cheese and bring to the toaster for another 7mins.
4. Finally garnish it with grated cheese and parsley flakes.

#Tips: Grill the green pepper beforehand, to bring out the smell and enhance the taste of it.
------------------------------------------------

By the way, my toaster is some sort of oven, but more for heating & grilling purposes, not baking. It has no Celsius, only the amount of time I want to heat the food. Since I can't provide good recipe, I will share with u guys one good recipe. Pssst, actually I got this mini recipes when buying the parmesan cheese.

Pan Fried Parmesan Grated with Asparagus,Spinach & tomato soup

Ingredients
1/2 fresh breadcrumbs
50g Perfect Italiano Parmesan Grated cheese
Salt & freshly ground black pepper (season)
8X120g lamb steaks (approx 5mm thick)
1/4 cup plain flour
2 eggs, lightly beaten
2 tbs olive oil
500g asparagus, trimmed, cut into thirds & blanched
200g baby spinach leaves
1 punnet cherry tomatoes, halved
Juice of 1 lemon
1/2 teaspoon of sugar
1 tbs extra vigine olive oil

1. After it was launched a few days, and gotten some feedbacks from my sister and friends. They had good praises about this new creation, thus I decided to give it a try. In fact, I don't really fancy fastfoods especially new creations, but being a foodie lover who wants to try everything, I don't want to give it a miss. Afterall, I had most of my meals outside because I simply couldn't afford the time out to cook a proper meal, and I guess living in central with many hawker centres around me affects a lot as well....

KFC chicken chop, crinkle-cut fries, rasin coleslaw

Yay...here comes my dinner. mushroooooms, my favourite!

The chicken is pretty tasty (isn't that what KFC should do better..hehe), the meat is quite tender and the mushroom sauce is a value-added. I love mushrooms...!!! Overall, I probably give a 3.3/5 for this meal. Available at all KFC islandwide, but sometimes different outlets turn up to have different standards. I had mine at Suntec Basement 1 though.

Alright that was last night's dinner. hahaha.. slightly slower in updating.

Upcoming will be banana walnut kueh and mian jian kueh :

I had this banana-walnut cake for my tea-break in office. It's Homemade !!! It's very spongy, soft and the walnuts gives a crunchy feel to it. But I'm not sure anywhere outside sells it. If you happen to go into CMPB, walk to the DTTA canteen and they only sold it on certain days.

This is from the very famous Tiong bahru Mian Jian Kueh in the newly open 2-storey Tiong bahru market. Above is the red bean paste, if you notice, you can still spot a little smashed red bean in it. They made this red-bean paste themselves, and roasts & grinds the peanut filling using a machines contructed by the owner's father. It tastes the best when it's served warm. Range from crispy pancake to round, traditional mian jian keuh which cost 60cents only. Will update more makan places, so keep track.... :)

Cookies & chocolate days

Let's do a flashback of what had I been savouring on the past few days:

I bet you must be wondering what is all these almost empty bottles means! See, that's the wonder of homemade cookies did to me. I had ate it almost finished within 3 days. How amazing is that!! haha. I love soft cookies and they are really rich & tasty. With a few cups of tea, I could just have at least 3 sessions of high tea in a day. These bottles of lovely cookies, I bought them during Cheryl's holiday bake sale. Yummy!!
Here comes : Max Brenner Chocolate Bar located at Esplanade Mall #01-06/08

SUCKAO!! One of my favourite induglences. In case, people who do not know what is sukao, as shown in the picture : first, pour the milk into the metal-holder . then, add the cute chocolate buttons into it. The heat from the candle at the bottom will melt the chocolate and stir using the metal straw. Tada...there you go, a thick sweet hot chocolate drink.

Woosh...chocolate fondure, another favourite of mine. Three different levels of chocolate namely white, milk & dark chocolate. Isn't this a great catch for those chocolaholic-lovers like me?! Personally, i love the combination of bread and marshmallows with dark chocolate especially. Fruits with chocolate dip lessen my sin & comfort myself a little, at least something healthy isn't it? haha. My day ends with a beautiful chocolatie full-stop. nice!

Start of food journey

This will gonna be my second food-blog and hopefully be successful as well. The first one was a failure that even now, I probably had fogotten what the blog url is. Okay to be honest, I almost wanted to give up blogging, but I guess, passing by some food blogs, once again, they inspired me to set up my own food blog.

To be honest, I ain't a great cook. But I've tried, baking cookies to cooking simple dishes. And I can fully understand the beauty of the whole process. I have no talent in cooking, but I am willing to try. Recipes never fail to amuse me. I am those who are willing to travel around the world and get a taste of good food from different cultures and places. I love to share good food with my friends and family. My weakest point is 'homemade', I always feel that I must give a try to all homemade foodies because the chef or baker has put in his/her heart and soul into doing it.

I believe, many agreed, food is definitely one of the most essential thing in our life. I respect food and love food for sure, it's a kind of pleasure to have good food all around me. It's not only about filling the stomach and statisfying the hunger, it's all about an art and bringing happiness to one. Like many said, food can make you or break you. To me, it applies as well. At the end of a tiring day, savouring delicious food with loved ones is ending the day with an excellent full stop. Who doesn't love food that is well-prepared, mouthwatering and simply divine? I bet no one.

In this food blog, I will post up some great makan places, food-hunting, cool chill-out places for u guys. However sorry for those pork-meat-lovers, I don't eat pork or lard, thus probably in here, there will be very few blogs related to this meat or maybe none. And from time to time, I will put up Food Sales too. hehe. Don't worry, I won't be the one baking, but I can guarantee you, for people who cherish homemade foodie like me, it's something you wouldn't want to miss out. Stay tune for upcoming entry on the exciting food journey together with me.
